A recent study highlights that sexual harassment in the workplace remains a significant issue in Switzerland, despite existing preventive measures.
Conducted by the Federal Office for Gender Equality and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the study reveals that over half of Swiss employees have encountered unwanted sexist and sexual behaviors at work.
Women, young professionals, and trainees are particularly affected, with 44% of women reporting experiences of sexual harassment compared to 17% of men.
The study also notes that younger employees, especially women aged 16 to 25, have faced more incidents in the past year.
Sectors with high customer interaction, such as hospitality, banking, and healthcare, are more frequently affected.
Alarmingly, one in five companies lacks preventive and intervention measures, despite legal obligations.
The study calls for improved awareness and clear workplace structures to encourage reporting and support for victims.
