The Swiss Army is taking decisive action against sexual violence and discrimination following alarming findings from a recent study.
The study, conducted by the Office for Women in the Army and Diversity, revealed that over 90% of women in the army have experienced sexualized violence, with discrimination being a significant precursor to more severe forms of abuse.
The survey, which included over 1,000 participants, highlighted a pervasive culture of sexism and inappropriate behavior, affecting both women and men, though women are disproportionately impacted.
In response, the army has announced new measures, including an anonymous reporting tool and enhanced protection for victims, as part of a broader zero-tolerance strategy.
These steps aim to address the deep-rooted issues within the military culture and improve the environment for all service members.
