In response to growing concerns from local residents about noise and disturbances caused by car enthusiasts, the municipality of Würenlos has reduced the free parking time at the Würenlos rest area from four hours to two.
This decision aims to deter the gathering of car enthusiasts who often showcase their expensive sports cars and rev their engines, creating significant noise.
Despite the reduction in free parking time, these gatherings remain permitted.
The municipality hopes this measure will alleviate the issue, although the rest area operator initially opposed the change, preferring to maintain the four-hour limit.
The new rule applies to all users of the rest area, which sees about two million visitors annually.
The rest area, known for its unique architecture, has previously required police intervention due to the high volume of car enthusiasts.
