Switzerland faced a year of extreme weather in 2024, marked by deadly storms and record-breaking conditions.
In the Misox region, devastating floods claimed two lives and left villages questioning their future habitability.
Similarly, Brienz in the Berner Oberland experienced severe flooding.
The summer brought relentless storms, setting rainfall records, while the winter saw temperatures plummet to -28°C in Buffalora.
Heatwaves in August pushed temperatures to 36.4°C in Biasca, and powerful Föhn winds reached speeds of 190 km/h in Uri.
Despite these challenges, the year also brought moments of beauty, with over 2000 hours of sunshine recorded in parts of Ticino and Valais.
