The summer of 2024 is proving to be exceptionally hot in Ticino, Switzerland, with a record-breaking number of heat days.

Since July 22, the region has experienced 16 consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.

In Magadino/Cadenazzo alone, there have been 23 heat days this year, surpassing the average of 17 for this time period.

Locarno/Monti and Lugano have also reported above-average heat days.

While the current heatwave is significant, it falls short of the extreme summer of 2022, which recorded 65 heat days in Biasca.

Despite the heat, the nights remain warm, with temperatures rarely dropping below 20 degrees.

As the summer continues, more heat days are expected in the coming week, ensuring that 2024 will be remembered as a notably hot summer in Ticino.
