Swiss Weather: From Heat to Rain

Published: 2024-08-23

Switzerland is experiencing a dramatic weather shift this weekend.

After basking in near 30-degree temperatures, a cold front is set to bring significant changes.

On Friday, the country will enjoy sunny skies with some local showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the Voralpen regions.

However, by Saturday, the weather will become more unstable, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected, especially along the northern slopes of the Alps.

Sunday marks a stark contrast, as temperatures drop to around 20-22 degrees, accompanied by widespread rain and potential thunderstorms.

The Swiss Federal Office has issued warnings for possible flooding and landslides in certain areas.

Despite the wet weekend, the weather is expected to improve by Monday, with sunnier conditions returning and temperatures rising again.
