In the recent St.
Gallen elections, the city council remains unchanged as all five incumbents were re-elected, with Maria Pappa of the SP receiving the highest votes and continuing as city president.
Despite challenges, the current council members, including Markus Buschor, Mathias Gabathuler, Peter Jans, and Sonja Lüthi, retained their positions.
Meanwhile, the city parliament saw a shift towards a more conservative stance, with the FDP and SVP gaining additional seats, altering the balance of power.
The SP remains the largest party but lost two seats, while the Greens and GLP also faced losses.
The elections highlight a growing conservative influence in the city's political landscape.
