In a decisive victory, Esther Keller of the Green Liberal Party (GLP) has been re-elected as the Director of Construction in Basel-Stadt, securing her seat in the government with a lead of nearly 11,000 votes over her opponent, Anina Ineichen of the Green Party.
The election results, which were clear by midday due to the high percentage of postal votes, confirmed Keller's strong support across the political spectrum.
Despite the Green Party's efforts to reclaim a seat lost four years ago, Keller's broad appeal, including support from conservative voters, ensured her victory.
This outcome reflects the electorate's desire for stability and continuity in the government, maintaining the current balance of power.
Keller's re-election signifies public approval of her policies and the existing governmental composition, which remains unchanged with the Social Democrats holding three seats, the Liberal Democratic Party two, and one each for the Centre and GLP.
