Zürich is set to open a new asylum center in the Seebach district, converting the former Hotel Landhus into a facility for up to 80 vulnerable individuals.
The center, primarily for unaccompanied minors, will begin operations in June 2025. The Swiss State Secretariat for Migration will oversee the allocation of residents.
The city aims to provide tailored support by housing this group separately.
The hotel, unused for years, was repurposed after its last tenant left.
While some local criticism arose over a lack of community consultation, the city plans to establish a contact point for neighborhood concerns.
The lease for the facility runs until the end of 2029.
