Amnesty International has raised concerns over the treatment of unaccompanied minors in Swiss asylum centers, following reports of human rights violations.
The organization documented cases of abuse against minors at the Les Rochat center, urging authorities to enhance child protection measures.
Despite these concerns, the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) plans to cut 120 full-time positions for the care of these minors, citing a decrease in asylum applications.
Amnesty warns that this reduction is short-sighted, as the number of unaccompanied minors can fluctuate unexpectedly.
The SEM, however, assures that proper care will continue, even as it closes several temporary asylum centers due to lower than expected asylum numbers.
