Switzerland's healthcare system is set to save approximately 300 million Swiss Francs annually starting in 2026, following a consensus reached at a roundtable led by Health Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider.
This initiative aims to curb the rising costs of healthcare, which have become a significant concern.
The savings target represents about 1% of the total premium volume.
The roundtable included key stakeholders such as doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and patient organizations, who will meet biannually to discuss cost-saving measures.
While specific strategies are yet to be defined, the focus will be on short-term actions that complement ongoing reforms.
The public will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas through an electronic suggestion box starting in 2025.
