On Tuesday morning, the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) experienced significant IT disruptions affecting their online services and station displays.
The issues, caused by software updates for telecommunications, led to a temporary halt in ticket purchases and connection searches on both the SBB app and website.
While the systems have largely been restored, residual delays and disruptions in train services across Switzerland persist.
Particularly affected were regions like Ticino, where regional services had to be restarted, and routes between Bern and Olten, which were rerouted.
Despite the inconvenience, SBB assured that safety systems remained unaffected and that the situation is expected to normalize by the afternoon.
The SBB continues to work on resolving any remaining issues and has promised further updates.
