Luzerner Fasnacht: Tradition Meets Safety

Published: 2025-02-28

The Luzerner Fasnacht, a centuries-old Swiss tradition, kicked off with the "Urknall" on Schmutziger Donnerstag.

This vibrant festival, rooted in the 14th century, blends creativity, community, and historical customs.

Highlights include the Fritschiumzug and Wey-Umzug parades, as well as lively Guuggenmusig performances across three stages.

This year, enhanced safety measures, including 70 "Big Bags" and surveillance cameras, were introduced to ensure a secure environment.

Despite these changes, the festive spirit remains unshaken, with attendees embracing the joyous atmosphere.

The event continues to celebrate its unique mix of street festivities, music, and cultural heritage, drawing thousands to Luzern.
