A tragic accident on the A2 highway near Eich, Switzerland, resulted in one fatality and five injuries on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 7 AM when a vehicle with German license plates veered off the road, collided with a traffic barrier, and crashed into a parked truck at a rest area.

One person was severely injured and died at the scene, while the injured were taken to the hospital, some with serious injuries.

The identities of the deceased and the injured have not yet been released by the police.

The Luzerner Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, and the Sursee Public Prosecutor's Office is also involved.

As a result of the accident, the southbound lane of the A2 will be partially closed for several hours.
