A dramatic crash occurred during the International Hill Climb race in Oberhallau, Switzerland, on Sunday, when driver Joel Burgermeister lost control of his Tatuus Formula 4 Evo and collided with a tree.
The impact was so severe that the car was torn into pieces, with the largest fragment hitting another tree.
Despite the severity of the crash, Burgermeister, a 33-year-old auto mechanic, miraculously survived with only a few broken ribs and a shoulder injury.
He recounted the terrifying moment from his hospital bed, expressing gratitude for his survival and attributing it to the safety measures in place, including protective barriers around trees.
The race organizers confirmed that the track met all safety standards, and the incident was classified as a typical racing accident.
The event was halted temporarily, but no further incidents were reported, and the atmosphere eventually returned to normal.
