A 24-year-old hiker experienced a harrowing fall on the Pilatus mountain near Widderfeld, Switzerland, on Wednesday morning.
Due to dense fog, the Rega air rescue service was unable to deploy a helicopter, prompting a ground rescue operation.
Eighteen mountain rescuers from two stations embarked on a challenging ascent to reach the injured hiker, navigating steep and snow-covered terrain.
Despite the difficult conditions, the rescuers provided initial medical care and assisted the hiker, who was able to walk with support, down to the valley.
He was then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
This incident highlights the dedication and expertise of Switzerland's mountain rescue teams, who are always ready to respond to emergencies in the country's rugged landscapes.
