On Tuesday, Air Zermatt successfully rescued a Czech climber stranded on the Hörnligrat of the Matterhorn.
The climber was left behind by his two companions, who ascended the mountain without him, leaving him unroped at an altitude of about 3,600 meters.
Disoriented and in difficult terrain, the climber contacted the Kantonale Walliser Rettungsorganisation (KWRO) for help.
Shortly after 7 AM, an Air Zermatt helicopter, equipped with a rescue specialist, was dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the climber to safety without injury.
This incident highlights a recent increase in mountain rescue operations, attributed to the summer weather and holiday season, which have drawn many people to higher altitudes.
Air Zermatt has reported a rise in various rescue missions, including those for injured bikers, exhausted hikers, and climbers caught in rockfalls.
