Zoo Zürich has opened its groundbreaking "Panthera" habitat, a 10,000-square-meter space designed for Amur tigers, Asiatic lions, and snow leopards.
The innovative enclosure features four interconnected zones, mimicking natural environments like forests and mountains.
The animals rotate between these areas, ensuring constant mental and physical stimulation.
A highlight is the "Catwalk," a tree-lined bridge where visitors can observe the cats from below.
Feeding is also interactive, with food delivered via zip lines at speeds of up to 40 km/h, encouraging the cats to hunt as they would in the wild.
This setup mirrors the challenges of their natural habitats, promoting their well-being.
The zoo also introduced an "Insect Forest," housing 14 species of insects and arachnids without barriers, aiming to educate visitors on biodiversity.
Zoo Director Severin Dressen emphasized the importance of such initiatives for conservation and awareness.
