A tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning near Altstetten station in Zurich, where a 29-year-old tourist from the Czech Republic was fatally struck by a train.

The incident happened shortly before 3:30 AM when the tourist was walking on the tracks.

A night train, SN5, traveling from Urdorf to Zurich, was approaching the station when the train driver noticed the pedestrian on the tracks.

Despite initiating an emergency brake, the train collided with the man, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.

The Zurich city police and the public prosecutor's office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, with initial findings suggesting it was an unfortunate accident.
