The Canton of Zurich has extended the deadline for submitting 2024 tax returns to April 30, 2025, due to ongoing technical issues with its online tax platform, ZHprivateTax.

The system experienced disruptions during peak weekends in March, causing delays and frustration for users.

Many taxpayers were unable to complete their submissions, leading to a significant drop in filings compared to the same period last year.

Despite efforts to fix the issues, the platform may face further strain as a surge in usage is expected during the final weekend of March.

The extension aims to ease the burden on citizens and ensure everyone has sufficient time to file their taxes, whether online, offline, or on paper.
