Swiss Unemployment Rate Drops to 2.9%

Switzerland's unemployment rate saw a slight decline in February, dropping to 2.9% from January's 3.0%, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco).

The number of registered unemployed individuals fell by 0.2% to 135,446. Youth unemployment also decreased by 2.1% compared to January, though it remains 19.5% higher than the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of job seekers remained relatively stable at 212,699, with the job-seeking rate holding at 4.6%.

Encouragingly, the number of open positions rose by 5.6% to 44,398, signaling potential opportunities in the labor market.

Seasonal factors continue to influence employment trends, particularly in industries like construction and hospitality.
