Switzerland's Air Force is planning a return to training on civilian airfields, including Buochs in Nidwalden, Mollis in Glarus, and St.
Stephan in Bern.
These airfields, once military bases, have been used for civilian purposes for years.
However, changing geopolitical conditions have prompted the Defense Department to propose limited jet and helicopter exercises at these locations.
The plan aims to decentralize training activities and adapt to new security challenges.
Local governments and residents have until April 4 to provide feedback, with noise concerns expected to be a key issue.
The airfields will only be used temporarily, with the Air Force continuing to focus on its main bases in Payerne, Meiringen, and Emmen.
