In a significant crackdown on theft, authorities have recovered a large number of stolen mobile phones linked to the recent Street Parade in Zurich.

During a vehicle inspection at the Swiss-German border, Zurich's cantonal police seized around 50 mobile phones, cash, and other items, leading to the arrest of four Colombian men suspected of pickpocketing at the event.

Meanwhile, in Como, Italy, the financial police discovered 121 phones, believed to be stolen from the same event, hidden in a bag carried by a 40-year-old Romanian man on a train from Zurich to Milan.

The phones were wrapped in aluminum foil, a tactic used to hinder tracking.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the devices, with cooperation between Swiss and Italian authorities.

The Romanian man has been charged with handling stolen goods but remains free pending further investigation.
