Mass Layoffs at Ceva Logistics

Ceva Logistics, a key player in Zalando's return logistics, has announced the mass layoff of 350 employees at its Neuendorf site in Switzerland.

This decision follows Zalando's choice not to renew its contract with Ceva, leading to the potential closure of the Neuendorf facility by the end of the year.

The layoffs include 212 permanent and 138 temporary workers, sparking criticism from the Unia union, which holds both Ceva and Zalando accountable for the job losses.

Unia argues that Zalando, having benefited from affordable labor in Neuendorf, should ensure a smooth transition for the affected employees.

Zalando, meanwhile, plans to shift its operations to a new, sustainable site in Sant'Antonio, Ticino, aligning with its environmental strategy.

The situation remains tense as negotiations and consultations are urged to mitigate the impact on the workforce.
