The iconic Jelmoli department store in Zürich is drawing massive crowds as it begins its final sale before closing its doors after 126 years.
Shoppers are flocking to the store, lured by discounts of up to 70%, though some, like 16-year-old Levi, find the deals underwhelming.
The sale, which runs until February 28, marks the end of an era for the historic retailer, whose building will be renovated to house new tenants, including Manor, by 2027. Employees express mixed emotions, noting the chaotic atmosphere and a shift in customer behavior.
Jelmoli's closure is part of a broader transformation of Zürich's Bahnhofstrasse, where many traditional businesses have disappeared in recent decades, reflecting changing consumer habits and rising rents.
