The Swiss e-bike manufacturer Flyer is facing a significant restructuring, with plans to move its production out of Switzerland.
This decision comes as a response to the challenging market conditions in the bicycle industry.
The German parent company, Zweirad-Einkaufsgenossenschaft, has initiated a consultation process, potentially affecting a large portion of the 170 employees at the Huttwil site.
This marks the second major restructuring for Flyer in a short period, following a previous reduction of 80 jobs last year.
Despite earlier assurances to maintain operations in Switzerland, the company now plans to minimize local administration and relocate production abroad.
The employees, shocked by the news, have been promised support through a social plan if layoffs occur.
The final decision on job cuts is expected in the coming weeks.
