In a dramatic turn of events in Oberriet SG, two individuals attempted to rob a post office but were thwarted by a brave bystander.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when the St.

Gallen cantonal police received a report of a robbery at the post office on Staatsstrasse.

The robbers, who entered through the back entrance, threatened and tied up a 19-year-old employee.

However, a courageous observer intervened, leading to a scuffle during which he noticed a weapon on one of the suspects.

The robbers fled on a motorcycle without any loot.

An inter-cantonal manhunt ensued, and the suspects were eventually apprehended after crashing their motorcycle during a police chase in Rheineck.

Both suspects were injured and taken to the hospital, but no further information about them is available as they carried no identification and remain silent.
