On Thursday, a technical disruption stranded hundreds of tourists on the Jungfraujoch, known as the "Top of Europe.
" The issue arose when stones dislodged in the tunnel of the Jungfraubahn, causing a temporary suspension of train services.
Approximately 1,000 visitors were affected, unable to return to the valley for several hours.
The Jungfraubahn spokesperson, Kathrin Nägeli, confirmed that the disruption occurred around 1 PM, leading to a halt in train operations.
During the wait, tourists were provided with complimentary water, tea, and coffee, and the on-site restaurants remained open.
By late afternoon, the first train resumed service, safely transporting the stranded individuals back to the valley.
Normal train operations are expected to resume on Friday, with affected travelers offered refunds or the option to travel the following day.
