Swiss Ministers' Jet Use Sparks Debate

Swiss government officials have come under scrutiny for their frequent use of the Bundesratsjet and helicopters for domestic travel.

A report by CH Media reveals that former President Viola Amherd and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis are the most frequent users of the jet, often for short trips.

Amherd used the jet 14 times between Sion and Bern, while Cassis made 13 trips between Bern and Lugano, earning the jet the nickname "Taxi Ticino.

" Critics have raised concerns about the environmental impact and necessity of such flights, especially for personal convenience.

Other ministers, like Justice Minister Beat Jans, also used the jet for domestic routes, though less frequently.

Meanwhile, some officials, such as Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter, avoided using the jet for personal travel altogether.

The debate highlights the balance between efficiency and responsibility in government travel.
