In Basel, Switzerland, approximately 2,000 people gathered for a national pro-Palestinian demonstration as part of an international "Day of Action for Palestine.
" The event, organized by the Federation Switzerland-Palestine and supported by around 100 organizations, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, economic sanctions against Israel, and the cessation of Swiss-Israeli scientific cooperation.
Participants chanted slogans such as "Apartheid," "Genocide," and "Hands off Lebanon," while carrying banners with the controversial phrase "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free.
" The demonstration, which was peaceful and approved by local authorities, concluded at the Basler Kasernenareal.
Meanwhile, similar demonstrations in Berlin have led to police interventions due to anti-Semitic remarks, with authorities preparing for a significant police presence on the anniversary of the Hamas attack on October 7.
