Switzerland's Federal Intelligence Service (NDB) has raised alarms over a deteriorating global security landscape, highlighting increased threats from authoritarian states and espionage activities within the country.
The latest NDB report underscores the growing military cooperation among countries like China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, posing significant challenges to democratic nations.
The report also points to a rise in radicalized youth, with several minors arrested for suspected terrorist activities in Switzerland this year.
In response to these threats, the Swiss Security Policy Commission has proposed creating 150 new positions within the NDB to bolster its capabilities.
This move comes amid concerns about the NDB's ability to effectively address security threats, as highlighted by its director, Christian Dussey.
The proposal is currently under review, with discussions on how to fund these positions ongoing.
