On Switzerland's National Day, President Viola Amherd emphasized the importance of unity in addressing the country's challenges, stating, "Polarization is not the solution!" Speaking from the historic Stockalper Palace in Brig, she urged citizens to defend the values of direct democracy, which she described as the foundation of the nation.
The celebrations included around 280 farmers hosting brunches across the country, attended by approximately 100,000 people, including government officials.
Despite the rainy weather, festivities continued, with various members of the Federal Council delivering speeches.
Notably, Amherd highlighted the need for mutual respect among the diverse cultures and languages in Switzerland, encouraging everyone to engage in constructive dialogue.
The day was marked by a spirit of togetherness, with no incidents reported during the events.
