Peter Bichsel, one of Switzerland's most celebrated authors, has passed away at the age of 89. Known for his mastery of short prose, Bichsel gained international fame with his 1964 collection "Eigentlich möchte Frau Blum den Milchmann kennenlernen.
" His works often highlighted the lives of ordinary people, exploring themes like loneliness and communication struggles.
Born in 1935 in Lucerne, Bichsel spent most of his life in Solothurn, where he also worked as a teacher and political advisor.
He received numerous literary awards, including the Solothurn Literature Prize and the Grand Schiller Prize.
Bichsel's legacy will continue through projects like the "Büro Bichsel," a mobile museum dedicated to his work, set to launch on what would have been his 90th birthday.
