Swiss Advisor's Pay Surpasses World Leaders

Published: 2024-10-29

Brigitte Hauser-Süess, a former advisor to Swiss President Viola Amherd, has secured a lucrative consultancy contract following her forced retirement at age 70. The contract, running from October to the end of the year, pays her a total of 97,000 Swiss Francs for 70 workdays, equating to a daily rate of 1,140 Francs.

This arrangement nearly doubles her previous salary, raising concerns amid Switzerland's financial austerity measures.

Her earnings now surpass those of prominent leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron and U.

S. President Joe Biden.

The lack of transparency in the initial disclosure of her contract has sparked criticism, especially as the Swiss government seeks budget cuts in other areas.

Despite the controversy, Hauser-Süess continues to support Amherd, highlighting the complexities of political and financial decision-making in Switzerland.
