A 34-year-old skier tragically lost his life in an avalanche on Thursday while descending towards the Valsorey Hut in the Swiss Alps.
The man and his partner had just crossed the Col du Sonadon when the avalanche struck, sweeping him away.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by two mountain guides using avalanche search equipment, the man was found deceased.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Officials warn that warm spring weather is increasing avalanche risks, particularly on steep slopes above 2200 meters.
Fresh snow accumulations on unstable layers and wet snow avalanches triggered by sunlight are major concerns.
Skiers are advised to avoid steep slopes to ensure safety.
