In the Italian Alps, approximately 150 people were stranded at various mountain stations due to cable car failures caused by strong winds.

The affected area, Alagna Valsesia in the Piedmont region near the Swiss border, experienced severe weather conditions that halted ski lifts.

Rescue operations are underway, with teams using snowcats and traveling on foot where snow is insufficient, to escort skiers and hikers back to safety.

Despite the challenging conditions, all individuals are reported to be in good health.

The Italian Air Force's weather service has issued a wind warning for the entire Piedmont region, with temperatures expected to drop to minus four degrees Celsius in the evening.
