Switzerland is currently facing a shortage of the antidote for poisoning caused by the deadly death cap mushroom, with supplies unavailable until at least mid-November.
This shortage coincides with the peak mushroom foraging season, prompting Tox Info Suisse to urge foragers to have their finds checked at mushroom control centers.
The death cap mushroom is highly toxic, and without proper treatment, consumption can be fatal.
The current situation demands extra caution as alternative treatments are limited.
Despite the risks, mushroom foraging remains popular, with enthusiasts like Sascha and Kinga Krüger from Lucerne continuing to collect mushrooms, ensuring their safety by having them inspected by experts.
