A motorcycle accident in Rapperswil-Jona led to a significant fire on Sunday morning.
According to the St.
Gallen cantonal police, a 37-year-old man was attempting to transfer gasoline from his motorcycle's full tank into a canister when the fuel spilled and ignited on a hot part of the motorcycle.
The fire quickly spread across the garage floor, engulfing the motorcycle and damaging the house facade and a nearby parked car.
The local fire department, with around 50 personnel, managed to control and extinguish the blaze.
The man suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The incident resulted in substantial property damage, though the exact amount is yet to be determined.
The St.
Gallen police's forensic center is investigating the cause of the fire.
