Man Injured by Stray Bullet in Dietikon

Published: 2024-08-07

On August 1st, during the National Day celebrations in Dietikon, a 48-year-old man was injured by a stray bullet while sitting outside a bar.

Initially, it was believed he had been hit by a firework, but investigations revealed he suffered a grazing gunshot wound.

The man was taken to the hospital but has since been discharged.

Police found shell casings and projectiles in the area, prompting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Authorities are seeking witnesses, especially those who were near the Kirchplatz or Löwenstrasse at the time, or anyone who may have found shell casings.

The case is being handled by the Zurich Cantonal Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office for serious violent crimes.
