In Bern, Switzerland, a missing package containing 1,600 signatures for a minimum wage initiative has been found after weeks of uncertainty.
The signatures, crucial for the initiative's progress, were mistakenly stored as office supplies in a cabinet.
A city employee discovered the package while opening it on a Friday afternoon.
The city chancellery expressed relief at the discovery but regretted the incident.
Due to the delay, the collection period for signatures has been extended, with the new deadline set for January 15, 2025. The initiative committee is pleased that no criminal activity was involved and has decided not to pursue legal action.
