Switzerland is in the grip of a flu wave, with cases rising steadily over the past three weeks, according to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG).
Influenza cases have more than doubled, reaching 12 per 100,000 residents last week.
Pharmacies report a surge in customers with symptoms like fever, cough, and body aches.
Experts predict the flu wave will peak by late January.
Alongside the flu, other viruses such as RSV and non-SARS-CoV-2 coronaviruses are causing widespread colds.
Interestingly, common colds now seem to last longer, with symptoms like cough persisting for weeks.
Health professionals advise strengthening the immune system and staying home to recover properly.
